The Center for Contemporary Art & Culture presents this exhibition as part of the 2016 SGC International Printmaking Conference. The exhibition will feature 30 James Rosenquist prints from several collections with the majority coming from the Jordan D. Schnitzer Family Foundation Collection. Giving an overview of Rosenquist’s works in print, the prints in the exhibition are drawn from the years 1964 through 2011 and include selections from each decade.

David Horvitz has been creating Studio Rent Editions since 2010. Once a month he produces an edition of 10 of something - a watercolor, photograph, text, ephemera, or mail art. Horvitz stamps, dates, numbers, and signs each edition, and then sells them for 1/10th of his studio rent. Opening reception June 15, 5 - 7pm. In partnership with Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies

Smith presents a research-based installation that will draw upon the seemingly disparate topics of the spiritual awakening of jazz great Alice B. Coltrane, also known as Swamini Turiyasangitananda, the Shaker phenomenon of religious trance painting known as Gift Drawings, and the mysterious life and work of Simon Rodia, notably the Watts Towers.

The first in a series of exhibitions featuring artist-run spaces and projects, the Center partners with Vox Populi (Philadelphia) in an exchange exhibition in which three to five Philadelphia-based artists will be curated into a group exhibition at the Center with three to five Portland artists. The show will then travel to Philadelphia to be exhibited at Vox Populi.
