Museum of Contemporary Craft welcomes the support of volunteers who want to give back to the community by sharing their time and energy to enhance one of Portland’s premiere art institutions. Volunteers are actively engaged in the life of MoCC and work closely with staff, visitors, and artists in a variety of ways.
Prospective volunteers should enjoy discussing craft, be excited about working with a diverse range of individuals. We accept volunteers as needs demand. Thank you for your interest.
Gallery Sales Support
The Gallery Sales Support volunteer will help to greet customers and engage them through conversation about each artist’s unique story and process. The Gallery Sales Support volunteer will be responsible for maintaining the Gallery Store’s appearance by tagging, labeling, dusting, and displaying new and existing work.
This is a unique opportunity to learn and connect to how a Gallery Store functions within a museum setting to local artists, staff, and visitors. The Gallery Sales Support volunteer will play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the Gallery Store. In addition the Gallery Sales Support volunteer will assist the Museum Front Desk as needed.
Gallery Sales Support volunteers do not handle actual sales transactions within the Gallery Store, but provide invaluable customer support leading up to a transaction. Individuals signing up for this role must be able to stand for three hours.
